Introduction

This page describes some of the known problems and work arounds with the BEAM XVI and XVI-SB range of terminals.

Problems

  1. Hardware Fault:    It has come to our attention that some BEAM XVI-SB base units are

  2. experiencing a hardware related fault. The fault manifests itself as
the system frequently completely locking up or the error message "XServer
Failed: The XF86Config file may be corrupt ..." being displayed at boot time.

If during boot up the system shows a processor clock of 300Mhz and these
problems exist, the speed of the processor should be lowered to 233MHz.

This is done by setting switch 4 on the Motherboard switch SW1 (By processor)
to off. The switch settings should be:

       1 - off
       2 - on
       3 - off
       4 - off
       5 - off
       6 - on
